Ullna Golf & Country Club – Est. 1981
Thank you Sven Tumba!

In 1981, the Swedish sports hero Sven Tumba had realized his dream. On August 27, on his own 50th birthday, Ullna was officially opened by H.R.H. Prince Bertil of Sweden. The iconic Ullna course was soon to become one of the premier golf clubs in Scandinavia.

Sven Tumba is unique in Swedish sports – a member of the Swedish national teams in football, ice hockey and golf – and one of the country’s most famous ice hockey players in the 1950s and 60s.

After his hockey career, he became a devoted golf player and a golf course designer – as well as a professional waterskier! Sven Tumba was also named ”the Golf Ambassador” when he introduced golf to the Soviet Union and built the first golf course in the country, outside Moscow.

Just in time for Tumba’s 50th birthday, his dream of an extraordinary and scenic golf course north of Stockholm came true. Ullna Golf & CC was inaugurated with pomp and circumstance on August 27, 1981. Golf enthusiast HRH Prince Bertil struck the historic first stroke and Ullna soon became one of the leading golf clubs in the Nordic countries.

Over the years, Ullna has been visited by golf and sports legends, entertainers, royals, a U.S. president, and hundreds of thousands of devoted amateur golfers.

The club has arranged international professional and amateur competitions, not least the legendary Scandinavian Enterprise Open (SEO) during the years 1983-1987. Seve Ballesteros, Adam Scott, Johnny Miller, Craig Stadler, Mark O’Meara, Lee Trevino, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie, Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman and our local hero Jesper Parnevik, have all competed at Ullna Golf & CC.

As the crowning achievement, Tiger Woods played the SAS Invitational team competition 1998-2001 and Annika Sörenstam won the HP Open on the Ladies European Tour 2004.
